This month May 2010

31st May 2010
May was always going to be a good month, with the improving weather and trips to the Lake District,Derbyshire Peak District and the East Coast of Yorkshire planned.

I made my trip to the Lake District, early in the month, and the weather and was really
good.I had pre-planned all the shots, based on my knowledge of the area and of course the sun epherimis.Apart from some mid-day cloud the light was very good.
I had planned to shoot at Buttermere,Ashness Bridge and Derwent Water on day 1. On Day 2 I climbed Haystacks for shots of Great Gable and Innominate Tarn, this was after an early morning visit at 06:30 to Derwent Water, to catch the light and mirror landscape on the lake.
Day 3 had been left open as the weather was set to turn, however as I looked out of the tent at 5am it was obvious there would be clarity for an early morning sunrise,so I made tracks to Castlerigg Stone Circle for 05:30 and surprisingly met 3 other photographers there,at the same time!
These images have been submitted to Lakeland Walker magazine.

Some of the images have also been submitted for the Sunday Times "Landscape Photographer of the Year" awards.

Following my trip to the Lakes I concentrated on the following local areas:
Classic rape seed shots in the local fields around Rotherham.
Shots of wildlife in Wickersley Woods,Rotherham.
Trips to Thornwick Bay,Flamborough to shoot the coastal landscape at dusk.
Trek up Grindsbrook,Edale to shoot the terrain and "Woolpacks" on Kinder Scout.
Family trip to Honeysuckle Farm,Hornsea to shoot farm animals.
Production of panoramic image of local fields between Letwell and Dinnington.

My sunset image "Corus Sunset" appeared in the Star newspaper,"readers photos".

Next month I am planning a trip to the North East - Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castles.
