My photographic journey commenced at the age of 18, inspired by my father’s lifelong pursuit of capturing cherished memories through his Kodak Retinette film camera. I still hold onto his collection of slides and prints, serving as tangible reminders of those cherished moments.
In the early stages of my photography career, I acquired a Zenith EM camera from a camera store in Rotherham, marking the beginning of a series of cameras that would shape my journey. Subsequently, I transitioned to Olympus and Nikon film cameras before embracing Canon DSLRs.
As an engineer in the steel industry, we had access to a facility for developing and printing our photographs as members of the photographic club. Initially, I engaged in the manual development of black-and-white film, but I later progressed to capturing colour slides and eventually transitioned to digital cameras and processing.
Over time, my photography evolved from capturing family memories to encompass events and weddings. I dedicated ten years to this endeavour, investing in training and attending workshops on wedding, portraiture, and flash photography, which proved invaluable in enhancing my skills.
Presently, my primary focus lies in capturing landscapes and travel photography. My proximity to the Peak District, surrounded by local woodlands and nature reserves, provides me with a diverse array of subjects to explore within my immediate vicinity.I predominantly utilise a Canon R5 mirrorless camera for my daily photography endeavours, while a Fujifilm XT2 camera accompanies me on travel adventures.
